Please follow these instructions to conduct an ECM or TCM swap. This process will transfer essential data from the original TCM to the new one, without altering the software or segment versions on the new TCM.
While we will be specifically discussing the TCM here, the process remains the same for performing a TCM swap. Simply select “ECM” instead of “TCM.”
- Connect VCM Scanner to the vehicle containing the original TCM:
a. Navigate to “Vehicle Controls & Special Functions” in the software.
b. Start the “Replace TCM” function, located under “System -> General.”
c. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the TCM replacement process for the original TCM.
- When prompted, replace the original TCM with the unlocked one provided by HP Tuners.
- Connect VCM Scanner to the vehicle containing the unlocked TCM:
a. Navigate to “Vehicle Controls & Special Functions” in the software.
b. Start the “Replace TCM” function, located under “System -> General.”
c. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the TCM replacement process for the unlocked TCM.
- Download the TCM read from the unlocked TCM and save an info log.
- Provide us with the TCM read from the newly unlocked TCM along with an info log.
Note: Depending on the software/segment version of the unlocked TCM, your truck may experience shifting issues after installation. We recommend driving the truck briefly (e.g., down the driveway or around the block). If you notice rough shifting, reinstall the factory TCM until you receive the TCM tune from us. If the truck shifts smoothly, you can keep the unlocked TCM installed.
