Here are the steps to install your CSP5/DSP5 switch:

  1. Connect the switch to the device.
  2. It will begin by flashing the firmware version number, indicated by a sequence of long and short blinks.
  3. Turn the key on and change the tune. The switch will flash the tune it just set.
  4. Test all positions of the switch. If it correctly displays the tune number in each position, then it’s functioning correctly.
  5. If it doesn’t work in position five or positions 3-5, you likely only have two or four tunes. In this case, follow the directions for moving the tabbed washer.
  6. Once you’ve confirmed that it’s working, complete the installation process.

Installation of the switch necessitates drilling two holes, one small and one large, unless you have a mounting bracket. If you prefer to avoid drilling the second hole, you have the option to remove the anti-rotation pin, eliminating the need for the small hole.

Before installing the switch and after routing the wire, utilize the provided tie wrap to secure the black jacket of the cable to the switch. Use the small slot in the corner of the PCB for this purpose. This precaution prevents wires from being pulled out of the connector or the connector from being dislodged.

Your switch includes a nut and two washers. Ensure that the smooth washer remains at the bottom with the tab positioned in hole number five*. If it becomes dislodged, turn the switch fully counter-clockwise and reinsert the washer with the pin in hole number five. Confirm that the switch rotates precisely four clicks clockwise. If not, revert the switch fully counter-clockwise, adjust the pin, and repeat the process.

*For CSP2 or CSP4 tunes, adhere to the instructions provided in the preceding paragraph but position the tab in hole number two or four (instead of hole number five).

For 2018+ using EFILive®, a Cummins Bypass Cable is necessary for flashing (and utilizing the CSP5 switch). Additionally, it MAY be required for MM3, Smarty, and RME in case of security module failure.
