TheDPFDelete does not support the removal of emissions systems from vehicles intended for road use, as it may be illegal in certain countries.

If exempt from relevant laws and opting to remove factory-installed emissions systems, follow these steps:

  1. Use a delete-capable tuner to recalibrate the PCM. Install an emissions-off tune with all emissions intact initially, then remove emissions after successful installation.
  2. Remove the DPF/DEF filters from the exhaust system.
  3. The recalibration will deactivate the EGR system and eliminate DPF/DEF/EGR error codes that could trigger a check engine light.

Physically removing the DPF/DEF system from the vehicle is necessary, while removing the EGR system is optional.

The EGR system employs a heat exchanger to transfer heat from hot exhaust gases into the engine’s cooling system by circulating engine coolant through a radiator-like device. However, instead of cooling the coolant with regular air, hot exhaust gases pass through it to lower their temperature before re-entering the combustion chamber.

Over time, these systems can deteriorate, leading to cracks and leaks that allow engine coolant to seep into the combustion chamber. This can result in various issues, ranging from engine misfires to catastrophic engine failure. When functioning correctly, the EGR system contributes to the accumulation of soot throughout the intake system, a common issue across all engines. However, with Direct Injection engines like Duramax, Powerstroke, and Cummins, this soot buildup specifically occurs on the intake valves’ backside, leading to compromised sealing, reduced power, and decreased fuel efficiency.

In summary, you will require:

  1. A DPF delete pipe or a DPF delete exhaust.
  2. A delete-capable tuner.
  3. Optionally, an EGR delete kit may also be advisable.

Note: Prior to tuning, it’s essential to address any emissions-related messages appearing on your dashboard. Tuners do not clear these codes, and once tuned, they will persist. Ensure to resolve these messages before proceeding with tuning.
